Why offers work for cards

The card hobby runs on negotiation: at shows, in groups and on eBay. Plenty of buyers skip listings without Best Offer, or wait for a seller who takes offers. Turning it on brings those buyers in, and an offer at 90% of your price today is often worth more than full price in three months.

When to leave offers off

Cheap cards. Haggling over $3 isn't worth your time, and a lower price barely covers the label. Use a multi-buy discount instead.
Cards already priced at the bottom of the market. If you priced to sell, an offer only takes money off.
Auctions. Best Offer is only for fixed-price listings.

Set it up so offers don't run your day

Auto-decline lowballs. Set a floor, around 75% to 85% of your price, and eBay declines anything below it for you.
Auto-accept the easy yes. Set the price you'd take without thinking, say 90% to 95%, and those sales close while you sleep.
Counter the ones in between. Meet about halfway. Most buyers who make a reasonable offer accept a reasonable counter.
Leave room in the price, but not too much. Pricing 10% above where you'd settle makes room for offers. Pricing 40% above recent sales just means nobody offers at all.

Send offers yourself
