HobbyGM vs CollX

CollX values your cards and sells them to its own buyers. HobbyGM is for sellers running an eBay store. CollX doesn't list to eBay itself; CollX Pro includes a CardDealerPro subscription for that.

Where HobbyGM is better

  • Running an eBay store: every listing checked each night, and item specifics and titles fixed in bulk.
  • Pricing against other sellers' current eBay listings of the same card, where CollX shows an average of recent sales.
  • Offers to eBay watchers.

What CollX does

  • Scan a card with your phone to identify it and see an average market value from recent sales. (source)
  • Sell on the CollX marketplace: you set the price, buyers buy or make offers, and you ship. (source)
  • 10% seller commission, excluding shipping and tax; withdrawals have a $10 minimum and a $2 fee. (source)
  • Gold: 8% commission on the first $2,500, then 3%, free withdrawals and bulk shipping labels. (source)

Worth knowing

  • CollX Pro includes a free CardDealerPro subscription, which CollX calls its desktop software for listing across marketplaces. (source)

What HobbyGM does

  • Checks every listing in your store each night: titles, item specifics, and cards with no watchers three weeks after listing. (how the checks work)
  • Fills missing item specifics from the title and adds missing search terms (parallel, print run, grade, team) to titles, in bulk, with review before anything is pushed to eBay.
  • Flags listings whose title and item specifics disagree: card number, season, print run, autograph, rookie, grade.
  • Compares each card's price with other sellers' current listings of the same card, matched on number, parallel, grade and print run.
  • Sends offers to watchers in bulk, or automatically each night by your rules, never below break-even.
  • Shows each listing's net margin after eBay fees, shipping and supplies, and flags cards that lose money or would ship cheaper by Standard Envelope. (fee calculator)
  • Reads per-listing traffic from eBay, so you can see which cards get seen and not clicked.
  • Covers sports cards, Pokémon, Magic, Yu-Gi-Oh!, One Piece, Lorcana and non-sport cards.

HobbyGM doesn't scan or identify cards, create new listings, list on other marketplaces, or look up sold prices for your cards. It works on the eBay listings you already have, however you made them.
